When I am reading a great book, I want to talk about it. A great book makes you think and that is exactly what Tribes by Seth Godin did for me. I was thinking about this book long after I finished reading. It might be going on my shelf of “Books that Changed my Life”. It was that good.
I watched Seth Godin’s TED talk and decided to give his book a try. The book is on leadership and creating your own tribe. Seth Godin states, “A tribe is a group of people, large or small, connected to one another, a leader or an idea.” The tribe has to have two things; shared interest and a way to communicate. He gives great examples in his book about people who have started tribes.
Because of my passion for all things leadership, I was interested in his views on leadership. He states, “Leadership is about creating change you believe in.” I started asking myself some great questions about my company. Why did I start it? What is it that I believe in? Can I build a tribe? Can I help people build their own tribes?
When a book makes you think and ask yourself some great questions, it is well worth the time invested. This book was amazing! As I build my tribe (and my business) I am committed to help others develop their own tribe then they can create change they believe in.
I love Seth Godin! Thank you for calling this book to my attention. I look forward to adding it to my collection. I really appreciate your insights!
